One Man Mormon Blues Band: Music

CIRCLE SONG (for Gary)

(One Man Mormon Blues Band)
Gary is my second grand child, and my namesake. I am not sure why I was impressed to write his song in circles, but the music follows the circle of fifths and the lyrics all relate to cycles. Gary is the spitting image of his Father, an eager and enthusiastic Boy Scout and a devoted young Deacon. He has so many talents, from music, sports and mathematics, that he has a hard time knowing where to direct his energy. So mostly he torments his sisters.
CIRCLE SONG (Gary’s Song)

Day follows day
Night follows night
Seasons follow seasons
Life follows life

Go to sleep Gary
Go to sleep my little child
Live your dreams in the day time
Dream your life every night

Sun comes up in the morning
Goes to bed every night
Moon comes up in the evening
Disappears late at night.

Go to sleep Gary
Go to sleep tonight
Live your dreams in the day time
Dream your life by lamplight

Flowers blossom in spring time
In the fall they die
Run and swim in the summer
Play in the snow and ice

Go to sleep Gary
Go to sleep in moonlight
Live your dreams in the day time
Dream your life every night

Mama had a little baby
He was Daddy’s little child
And that little baby
Is Gary's grandchild

Go to sleep Gary
Go to sleep my little child
Live your dreams in the day time
Dream your life every night
