One Man Mormon Blues Band: Music

The Restoration

(One Man Mormon Blues Band)
I wanted to write a Priesthood anthem, but of course I don’t have that much talent. I don't recall why I wanted to write a Priesthood anthem. I think maybe I was just tired of sweetness and female voices.

But in my mind Priesthood songs need to sound masculine. Not all reverential music sounds masculine. So since this wasn’t ever going to be played in Sacrament anyway, why not arrange it with drums.
Priesthood is restored
God is alive
Many men are angry
Many men have died
Now the restoration
Upon the world has burst
Many men are hungry
Many men do thirst
It sometimes seems like magic
Sometimes like a sigh
Priesthood is restored
God is alive

God is alive
Priesthood is restored
Many men have died
Mankind goes to war
Imagination’s real
Reality is poor
Visions are so common
What’s reality for
Magic is abroad
Since latter days of yore
God is afoot
Priesthood is restored

God is restored
Priesthood is alive
The Prophet is in conference
The swarm is in the hive
Waiting for the coming
The teacher to arrive
My mind is like the calm
Of the hurricanes eye
People can’t help but wonder
The people they ask why
Voices from the stars
Priesthood is alive

Priesthood is alive
God is restored
There really isn’t talk
Of him dying anymore
From everlasting hills
To overflowing shores
Fifty thousand strong
To a million million doors
We thank thee Oh God
For the fire like a forge
God is alive
Priesthood is restored

Priesthood is restored
God is alive
Many men are angry
Many men have died
Now the restoration
Upon the world has burst
Many men are hungry
Many men do thirst
It sometimes seems like magic
Sometimes like a sigh
Priesthood is restored
God is alive
