One Man Mormon Blues Band: Music

The Wind Blows Everywhere

(One Man Mormon Blues Band)
I am not sure what this song means. I wrote it about two weeks following 9/11.
Door bangs wide open and he stumbles inside
Bandana across his mouth and nose says I’m lucky to be alive
My teeth feel rough and gritty my eyes itch and stare
He says don’t let it worry you none because the wind blows everywhere

Wind is whispering don’t know what to say
Something about all that’s good and gold is about to blown away
But he empties out his saddlebags the gold is shiny and fair
The windows rattle and the sideboards moan because the wind blows everywhere

Wind is blowing newspapers flying ‘round
Fast food sacks on the fence while the sun goes down
He says I’ll take a one way ticket but when I ask him where
He says it doesn’t matter because the wind blows everywhere

We talk into the morning with the wind a moaning low
Doesn’t matter how you die when your time has come to go
But he hopes the world would someday know that he really cared
All his life wasn’t just because the wind blows everywhere

Wind is screaming and birds are on the fly
History’s on the move as you’ll see by-and-by
Told him that I understand but he didn’t seem to care
He was listening to the wind and the wind blows everywhere

He rode into the sunset and left behind the cold
I’m not sure if I’ve been bought or maybe I’ve been sold
But the shutter bangs as the sun hangs in the dusty morning air
The hot fuel comes from the jet fuel drums because the wind blows everywhere

Sometimes the wind blows mighty sometimes it blows free
Sometimes the wind is just a breeze sometimes it blows on me
But it’s the autumn of the twin peaks fire and the wind blows out there
The man with the bandana knows the wind blows everywhere
