One Man Mormon Blues Band: Music

Alleys of Heaven

(One Man Mormon Blues Band)
I came to this earth with nothing, and I still have most of it left.

One day we (my family) were joking about it being all right to not be able to take it with us, since we didn't have anything to take, when the conversation turned to the question, "what did we truly value?", what would we want to take with us?

I know, I know! It should have been my scriptures.
I guess everyone has their own ideas
About what exactly Heaven is
A sea of glass and streets of gold
And Heavenly angels so I’m told
I don’t know what it’s like there
I’ll have to travel so far
But out in the alleys of Heaven
I want to play my guitar

A band of angels will sing
And I’m sure church bells will ring
I’m sure it’s good for the soul
But it’s not what I call rock and roll
When Gabriel sounds his call
I’ll have to travel so far
But out in the alleys of Heaven
I want to play my guitar

I don’t know if I’ll get to go there
If I go I don’t know what I’ll wear
Golden slippers and long white gown
And I’ve heard maybe a crown
Maybe genes and my walking shoes
Cause I’ll have to travel so far
But out in the alleys of Heaven
I want to play my guitar

I don’t know who’ll get to go there
How they’ll decide I just don’t know
They say my guitar has no soul
But if it’s not there maybe I don’t want to go
I wonder who won’t be there
I know I’ll have to travel far
But out in the alleys of Heaven
I want to play my guitar
