At one time, when all four of our children were teenagers, I was serving in a Bishopric as a counselor. When I was at Church I felt guilty because I wasn't with my family, and there was ALWAYS something I was missing. But when I was home, I felt guilty because there was ALWAYS more church work that needed done. I remember attending Stake meetings that went until past midnight. During this period of time I think I was severely depressed. So what else can one do but sing the blues?
Woke up this morning to earn my pay
Didn’t get home til the dark of day
My wife told me the Bishop called
There’s a meeting at seven in the cultural hall
I’m gone Gotta pay my dues
I came home pretty Mama to those
Too many meetings blues
Meeting Sunday morning Fireside that night
Had to make an appointment to fight with my wife
Stake meeting Thurday called her on the phone
She said the kids are gone I’m just sitting here alone
I’m gone Got more than I can use
Came home pretty Mama to those
Too many meetings blues
Woke up this morning looking forward to the day
No meetings tonight Going home to play
I got off early Got home by three
The note said she’d be home late it’s Relief Society
She’s gone Just more bad news
I came home pretty Mama to those
Too many meetings blues
