Addie is my youngest grandchild . . . so far. She is very tiny for her size, but she more than makes up for it in feistiness. Last fall we were visiting her home and we came in the back door I kind of booted her gently on the behind with my foot. She turned around and whacked me a good one on the shin. I know that sounds naughty, but I thought it was hilarious. I admire grit. But she is the youngest in her family . . . so far, so she has to be pretty assertive. Besides being smaller than most kids her age, she is precocious in many areas and speaks with a larger vocabulary than is usual. The combination is charmingly startling. She is my "little bird" of this generation.

Addie Amy
That’s what the little bird sings
Addie Amy
Sit on the front porch swing
Like a bell it rings
What that little bird sings
Addie Amy
Addie Amy
Addie Amy
See my little bird fly
Addie Amy
Fly high into the sky
Left me down here to cry
She left and I don’t know why
Addie Amy
Addie Amy
Addie Amy
Where did my little bird go
Addie Amy
She left me in Colorado
Flew of to Idaho
That’s where I want to go
