LULLABY FOR YURAE

Yurae is actually named for Ouray, Colorado; one of the most beautiful and breath taking spots in the world. The Mountain peaks, high alpine meadows full of flowers, deep gorges with thundering rivers make it a memorable place, and one where my son spent many hours as he was growing up. The word is the name of a locally famous Ute Indian woman. However, they feared many people would not know how to pronounce it so they spelled it more phonetically.

Yurae herself is as pretty and dramatic as the place for which she is named. Mercurial in nature; shy, sweet, bold and brash, she is all girl and all my little sweetheart. She has three older brothers to toughen her up, but her own feminine nature keep her sweet.

One story about Yurae. Once she came in from outside playing war with her brothers. She looked very determined and purposeful so her mother asked her what she was doing as she headed for her bedroom. Her reply? "More weapons!"
Woven in a tapestry
Embedded in a fantasy
Hardly believe the things I see
I think that something’s happening
I think that something’s soaring
Hardly believe I’m dreaming

Chorus I
If you’re thinking of living you’ve picked a very good time
If you’re thinking of staying it could last a life time
This world is full of music and rhyme

I’ve got to find the reason
Find out what’s been done
It’s the beginning of the season
My innocence is dying
Mortality is crying
And sleepiness is sighing

Chorus II
Open your eyes, you will see a new day
A new beginning, you can be on your way
I sing this lullaby for little Yurae

Do you think it’s worth the time
Worth a penny if it’s worth a dime
Beginning of your life time.
You feel it all around you
The story’s coming true
Everything looks strange and new

I fear I’ll be to weak
To find the dreams I seek
To be what I was meant to be
I cannot yet speak
I have grown to weak
To search longer for what I seek

Listen to the sweet refrain
Hinting at what’s to gain
Fading it will remain
I dream above confusion
And see beyond illusion
The vision of salvation
