Six Month Blues

For my wife who bore my children and daughters and daughters-in-law who have born my grandchildren.
Woke up this morning feel around for my shoes
Then I thought I heard someone moaning the blues
Looked all around my house upstairs and down
Couldn’t find anyone else around
Then I saw my woman her head in a dish
And she was singing something sounded like this
I’m not quite a mother yet but I’m not really not
About six months worth of kid is all that I’ve got
Maybe I’m not pregnant at all it’s just the flu I’ve caught
Maybe it’s just a fever the reason I’m so hot
Got the six month blues only paid part of my dues
Somewhere between one person and two
A little more than half baked just six ninths of a tot
With three months to go seems like a whole lot
Staying awake is a pain trying to sleep is for naught
I can’t do either one oh what have I wrought
Got the six month blues only paid part of my dues
Somewhere in the middle of start and through
I ought to get dressed I know that I ought
It’s what people do and I’ve been properly taught
But if I get too far away from this chamber pot
I know I’ll throw up and then I’ll have to mop
I got the six month blues only paid part of my dues
Those mean old low down six month blues
