One Man Mormon Blues Band: Music

Angel Moroni

(One Man Mormon Blues Band)

Gary Loren McCallister
This song was written about the time my first son went on his mission. He had been attending what was then Ricks College, and, of course, got entangled with a very nice young woman. As usual, blah, blah, blah and is now married, to another wonderful young woman, and they have four children. Oh, did I mention that he first met his present wife while on his mission?

(He fulfilled his mission in an honorable way. They were very careful to be proper.)
Golden angel, on the Temple so high
You and I., the Gospel we cry.
But I left her so high and I left her so dry
This mission call to satisfy.

CHORUS
Angel Moroni, up in the sky
Blow your horn in her dreams tonight.
If I had wings like an angel I’d fly
Don’t let her forget me with some other guy.

We went to the temple just she and I
We walked around trying to say goodbye
She said I’ll wait until the rivers run dry
It’s been six months without a cloud in the sky

My mission president said he’d prophecy
She’d be gone by the first of July
So put all your energy to testify
Forget all about that wink in her eye

Tracting is hard because you know I’m so shy
Baptized so much that it’s hard to stay dry
Write me a letter I’ll be sure to reply
Girls are all ugly here . . . and I never lie.
