One Man Mormon Blues Band: Music

I Got The . . . .

This is a semi-true, or quasi-false story of our courtship.
My friend Leon said, “Let’s get out of this place
You been moping around let’s join the human race”
We wound up on the corner talking to some girls
One of them was a sweet little Mother-of-Pearl
And she smiled at me
I got the . . . Because she smiled at me
I got the . . . Because she smiled at me
I don’t know why and I don’t know what she seen
But she smiled at me

I finally worked up the nerve to call her on the telephone
Somehow I wasn’t breathing could just barely hold on
She said hello I said hello too
I don’t know what I said probably acted like a fool
But she talked to me
I got the . . . Because she talked to me
I got the . . . Because she talked to me
I don’t know why and I don’t know what she seen
But she talked to me

I said something about the dance next weekend
But that’s alright never mind you probably got something planned.
She said just a minute I ain’t got nothing to do
I said that’s funny I got nothing to do too
And she went dancing with me
I got the . . . Because she danced with me
I got the . . . Because she danced with me
I don’t know why and I don’t know what she seen
But she danced with me

Well that was a long time ago but I think it happened
All the details aren’t clear but that’s probably just digression
I remember saying something like “I love you”
I remember her poking me and whispering, “say I do”
So did and she married me.
I got the . . . Because she married me
I got the . . . Because she married me
I don’t know why and I don’t know what she seen
But she married me
